1/1 Wheel Thrown PNG Inspired Sago Pot (d) - Mug/Small Bowl - US Shipping Included

Up for sale is a 1/1 PNG inspired sago pot mug, from my sago pot series in 2023.

Each one is thrown on the potter's wheel and hand built from there. All the little forms (eyes, ears, nose) were also thrown on the wheel by a technique called, "throwing off the hump," and were attached while the pieces were still wet.

Traditionally, a sago pot would have been fired in a pit, so I've tried my best to replicate a "faux pit fired" look through the use of layering textured slip and highlighting that with black underglaze. My goal was to make these look like they're covered in soot, like they were just pulled out from under the ashes of a campfire.

***Due to the thick application of slip (liquid clay)to help achieve that pit fired look, there are some surface cracks in the deep crevices of the eyes and ears, but you really need to look for them to them. These have all been liquid tested for at least 24 hours and do not leak.

I like to think that each one of these pots has their own soul and will look over you, your loved ones, and beloved rum.
