1/1 Wheelthrown And Hand Carved Sepik Phallacy Bowl- US Shipping And Insurance Included
Thank you for stopping by my on-line gallery.
Up for sale is this 1/1 Sepik Phallacy Bowl.
The bowl and it's stand were both thrown on the potter's wheel and the three masks were press molded, then they were all combined while still wet. After drying to a "leather hard" stage, everything got hand carved and detailed.
The beads are made of the same clay as the piece. Each bead gets rolled, holed, stamped, textured, dried, sanded, bisque fired, rinsed of dust, hand painted with underglaze, then put back in the kiln for a second firing to 2150f.
The shells in the masks are real and given the weathered look with black grout. One thing to be mindful of when washing these guys, is, that grout doesn’t like water, so try to keep them as dry as possible. The shells are attached after firing with a plumbers silicone adhesive.
* Measures 12.5" tall x 13.75" wide and holds 48 fluid ounces with a 1/2" of space to spare in the top of the bowl.
*
$1450+tax, includes shipping and insurance within the US via FedEx Ground.
Thank you very much for your support and I hope you'll consider adding this fine piece of one-of-a-kind art to your collection.
Cheers and Aloha,
Michael Shigeru Sbicca
