Four Sided Yellow and Red PNG Shield Mug - “PNG P.O.P.” - US Shipping Included
Hello everyone, thank you very much for stopping by my online store!
Up for sale is one of the first designs in my PNG shield mug series.
Each one of these started as a 2lb ball of clay that I threw on the potter’s wheel and altered into a “squarish” form by pushing out from the inside with a wooden dowel. The edges are then pinched to create a seal, so that holes can be safely punched to install the beads. From there, all four sides are carved freehand without the use of any stamps or stencils. Each of the 12 beads are made in studio from the same stoneware clay, and get carved, glazed and fired to the same cone 6 temperature, as the main body. I don’t use any measuring devices except for a kitchen scale to weigh the initial ball of clay, so the pieces will vary slightly in height and with. Approximate measurements for each piece will be listed below, so please be sure to read the entire listing.
I’ve decided to name this design, “PNG P.O.P,” with POP being an abbreviation for, “Portals of Protection.” I see the three “eyes” as being representative of the portals, where warriors would receive protection from their ancestors in the heat of battle. It’s very much an open ended interpretation, so I hope you’ll have some fun coming up with your own ideas for the portals and their importance. Since this is a drinking vessel, maybe they’ll help protect you from a hangover in the morning, lol.🤣😁😉
This red, yellow, and white version stands approximately 7” tall and 4.75” across diagonally, at the widest point of the beads, and 4.5” across the front, also at the widest point of the beads.
$270 shipped plus applicable sales tax. Shipping and insurance are included and your piece(s) will be double boxed and shipped via USPS Priority mail.
Thank you very much for supporting my small art business!
